The Wildacres Residency Program began in 1999 and over the past eight years has hosted approximately 215 writers, artists, and musicians. Without exception, the participants found the setting conducive to their work and had a great "Wildacres experience." The program continues in 2008, with 25 one-week residencies available from May through October. The program allows individuals the solitude and inspiration needed to begin or continue work on a project in their particular field. Participants stay in a comfortable, rustic cabin located 1/4 mile from the top of the retreat. They may use the Wildacres facilities and eat in the dining room or prepare their own meals in the cabin kitchen. There is no charge to the participants.
As this would be a working retreat, we ask that no spouses, family or pets accompany a visiting resident.

You may apply using the application form below and submitting it on-line. Please let us know who you are and what you hope to accomplish while you are at Wildacres. We have assembled a small committee comprised of writers, scholars, artists, and former participants  to select the residents.

The one week sessions begin each Monday afternoon and continue through Sunday. During the week most meals are served at Wildacres and mealtimes are great for interaction between the resident and staff. When meals are not served (between groups), options are available.

The program is open to anyone, with a limit of  two residencies in any four year period.

Artists (only): If you have pictures of your work on a website or can send a disc of your work, it would be helpful to the selection committee.

The application deadline for the 2008 residency program has passed. Please apply for the 2009 program before January 15, 2009.
