| Philip Blumenthal,
president and director of Wildacres since 1975, lives in Charlotte with
Amy and their two sons, Andrew and Ethan. He is a 1972 graduate of the
University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He is also the director and
trustee of the Blumenthal Foundation in Charlotte. He serves many
organizations in Charlotte as well as across the nation. Among these
are: Discovery Place, North Carolina Nature Conservancy, North Carolina
Zoological Society, Sierra Club, and Carolinas Land Conservation
Network. He serves on the Board of Visitors and the National Development
Council at UNC-CH. |
| Mike House,
resident manager, has worked at Wildacres for 18 seasons. He was born in
Charlotte, graduated from North Carolina State University in 1972 and
spent 12 years in Fort Mill, South Carolina working for Leroy Springs
and Company as a recreation programmer. He moved to the mountains in
1984 to develop Springmaid Mountain in Spruce Pine. He, his wife Kathryn,
and their two children Sarah and Lucas lived on the South Toe River in
Yancey County for many years before moving to Wildacres. Mike's duties
at Wildacres include administration, personnel management, group
services, maintenance helper, and gardener. |
